This pathological illustration depicts a person with a rare disease, acanthameoba keratitis. This piece was created to spread awareness in an effort to prevent its growing prevalence. Once progressed past the early stage, this severe disease often causes blindness. 

After consulting with an optometry student, these images were selected to best represent the urgency in practicing good contact hygiene and teach viewers the pathology behind this amoeba.
